Webinar on Performance and Impact Monitoring Tool

17 Jun, 2020

Private Business Action For Biodiversity (PBAB) project in collaboration with Global Nature Fund and Union for Ethical Bio-trade (UEBT) developed an easy-to-use and adaptable tool for performance and impact monitoring of biodiversity measures in farm and wild collection areas. Increasing number of farmers, collectors and companies around the world are implementing actions to regenerate biodiversity. Although they are achieving some success, it is difficult to obtain reliable data to plan for additional actions or to communicate impact.

They also feel that monitoring is complex and costly, and hands-on tools are hard to find. The PBAB project, organised a webinar on 14th June 2020 with Indian companies and other stakeholders on the use of the tool on monitoring and improvement for any biodiversity action. The webinar focused on application of the tool and its objectives, including methods for gathering data, evaluations through a simple scoring system, generate statistics and the data visualisation.

The global PBAB project promotes promising methods and instruments for biodiversity-friendly production and commercialisation. It tests and enhances them and systematises the experience gained in a way that enables both private and public actors to use them. In India, the project addresses spice cultivation in the Western Ghats, a mountain range in southern India that is known for its great biodiversity. The PBAB project is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, and Nuclear Safety (BMU) and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). It is part of the International Climate Initiative (IKI). Read More
