Session on “Sustainability, equity and biodiversity-friendly production” held at Global Exhibition Services in Mumbai

Projects on Private Business Action for Biodiversity (PBAB) and the Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS) Partnership jointly held a session on “Sustainability, equity and biodiversity-friendly production” at CII’s Business, Biodiversity and Climate Change Conference held in Mumbai as a part of annual Global Exhibition Services on 16th May 2018 organized by Department of Commerce, Government of India

Companies and organisations that are working closely on aspects of sustainability through certifications, integrated supply chain management of biodiversity-friendly agriculture, particularly spices and compliance with Access and Benefit Sharing under the Biological Diversity Act 2002 presented their experiences in the session. Challenges in establishing a biodiversity centric business model considering the aspect of climate change were also discussed. Panellists were Dr S. Badri Narayan, Head Bio-resource Development, Dabur R&D Centre, Ms Asha Sridhar, Head Food Safety, TUV Nord India Pvt, Mr Pramit Chanda, Country Director-IDH India, Sustainable Spice Initiative and Dr J. Thomas, Director Sahyadri Research Institute for Eco-Farming and Rural Technology.
