Operational Planning Workshop for Human Wildlife Conflict Project organized

A National level Operational Planning Workshop was organized on February 5th 2018 at Hotel Claridges in New Delhi to develop a common understanding of the overall project structure among the three Project Partner States- Karnataka, West Bengal and Uttarakhand, MoEFCC and GIZ and to develop the overall Operational Plan for the project (2018-21).

The workshop participants included Sh. Soumitra DasGupta, IGF MoEFCC, Sh Roy P Thomas, Joint Director (Wildlife) MoEFCC, Sh. DVS Khati, PCCF & Chief Wildlife Warden, Dr. Dhananjay Mohan, APCCF, Sh Sanatan Sonakar and Sh. Akash Kumar Verma from Uttarakhand Forest department; Sh Sandeep Sundriyal, APCCF-WL, Sh Ujjal Ghosh and Sh Kumar Vimal from West Bengal Forest department, Sh. Maria Cristo Raja D and Sh. Shivaram Babu from Karnataka Forest Department, Dr. V B Mathur, Director Wildlife Institute of India, Sh Ajay Desai, Dr. Konrad Uebelhoer, Programme Director, Indo-German Biodiversity Programme, GIZ, Dr. Neeraj Khera, Team Leader, HWC Project, GIZ, and Ms. Patricia Dorn, Indo-German Biodiversity Programme, GIZ.

After careful deliberations and brainstorming on the required changes in the existing draft, the workshop participants agreed on the revised Operational plan. The workshop concluded with a concrete way forward, and concluding remarks from Sh Dasgupta, MoEFCC and Dr Uebelhoer, GIZ.
